So I remember ages ago when a tumblr pal of mine posted about the allegations against Josh Macedo (tw at that link, the gist of it is, he sent unsolicited nudes to a minor, and has sexually harassed a bunch of women and girls, some as young as 15, sending them nudes and being really sexually explicit with them when they made it clear they were uncomfortable with that and basically relying on the fact that he’s this famous leftist dude to make them feel starstruck and unable to say no to him outright) and he messaged her directly and told her this big story about how the allegations were made up by some MRA who had been harassing his girlfriend, who he made sure to tell her was a rape survivor, and like
in retrospect obviously it was a lie, these allegations were NOT made up by some rape apologist MRA, they come from numerous women and girls that he has harassed and coerced into sexual situations
and it smelled fishy to me at the time but like, so much of the story he told her about it was so obviously designed to push specific buttons with her and her followers to make us all sympathize with him - the bit about his girlfriend being a rape survivor, the bit about the allegations being MRA harassment, when it was obvious he was speaking to a woman who had experience with both those things, and probably a lot of her tumblr followers did as well. Like, looking at it now, it was so tailored to specifically hit all the right GOOD FEMINIST MAN chords, make it seem like he had an enemy in common with her/us, make it seem like he was on the side of rape survivors and in fact like it was this being on the side of rape survivors that was WHY he was the victim of these malicious allegations
and I know that I am really anxious writing this, because I know that Josh Macedo occasionally reblogging me is a big part of why I have so many followers and as much support as I do have here on tumblr dot com, and I know that by speaking out and siding myself with the women he has harassed and coerced I am risking getting a lot of shit, which is why I keep seeing vagueblog posts that are obviously ABOUT Josh Macedo to those who are in the know, but don’t actually NAME Josh Macedo or the specific things he’s done - there are legit reasons why people are afraid to call him out directly, like, you know, I have been reading the blog of the girl he sent unsolicited nudes to and it is non-fucking-stop harassment, like people blaming a MINOR, TO HER FACE, for the fact that she was harassed and coerced into sexual situations by someone several years her senior - People who are willing to say “you lead him on” TO A MINOR about her sexual harassment are obviously people with no morals who are capable of saying and perhaps even doing terrible things to whoever they disagree with, AND THESE ARE THE PEOPLE ON JOSH MACEDO’S SIDE in all this
but like
I am so tired of these leftist men, the ones who are smart and sensitive and funny and being all those things, who know exactly what buttons to push, what political buzzwords to use, what to say to manipulate the women around them into protecting them from accountability for their predatory actions
because there are SO MANY of you
it is so incredibly disheartening and so incredibly shitty every time this happens, and this happens all the fucking time
and every fucking time it takes forever to come out because these guys will just use every trick in the book to repress the real story - they will exploit survivor narratives, point their fingers at the Big Bad Other Men and remind us how different they are from these men, widen their eyes and act like they had no idea this was coming, lock down their blogs and wait for it all to blow over
while the women who have had to deal with them quietly retreat into the private spaces where they can carve out some small semblance of safety and carry on with their lives

Josh Macedo fucking groomed a 15 year old girl to be able to coerce her into sexual situations that she has stated multiple times she was uncomfortable being in. If some frat boy did exactly what Josh Macedo did, all the Nice Leftist Dudes who are supporting Josh Macedo right now would be putting on their Shocked And Appalled faces and acting like they were so disgusted. Just because Josh Macedo knows a different set of buzzwords doesn’t make him any less of a predator.
